Alicante Airport Guide (ALC): Terminal, Transport & Tips
Alicante-Elche is one of the easiest airports in Spain to use: a single modern terminal, short walks, and a transport plan that puts you on the beach or the motorway within half an hour. Here is what matters.
One terminal, two piers
All flights use Terminal 1. Check-in and security sit on level 2; gates 1–19 and 20–42 fan out across two piers, with the longest walk about 8 minutes. There is a viewing terrace on level 1 — open-air, free, and perfect for plane watchers.
Getting there and away
- Bus C6 links the airport with Alicante city centre (Plaza del Mar/Port) roughly every 20 minutes, ~€4, 25 minutes door to door.
- Tram + bus: the L1/L2 tram network reaches San Juan’s beaches; combine with the airport shuttle or a short taxi hop.
- Benidorm: direct ALSA buses run along the AP-7; also the cheapest way to reach Torrevieja and Murcia connections.
- Taxi/rideshare: fixed-area fares to Alicante (~€20–25) and Benidorm (~€65–75) by day; queues are short outside arrivals.
- Roads: the N-338 spur connects to the A-7/AP-7 and A-31. Morning departures 06:00–09:00 are the parking scramble.
Parking without the panic
The general car park (P1/P2) is a 2-minute walk from the terminal — about €15/day with cheaper weekly caps. Long-stay value lots run a free shuttle every 10 minutes. During July–August, pre-book online; drive-up space in the first week of August is genuinely scarce.
Timing your arrival
Peak departure waves are 06:00–09:00 (Northern Europe rotations) and 21:00–00:30 (returns). At the quietest hours, 90 minutes before a short-haul flight is comfortable; at the peaks, make it 2 hours with bags.
Good to know
- Free unlimited Wi-Fi throughout; plenty of sockets by the gate-side bars.
- Pharmacy, first aid and a children’s play corner near gate 10.
- Smoking terraces exist airside at both piers.
- The FAQ covers liquids, medicines and document questions.
